Beaches in Castiadas
The beaches of Castiadas include some of the best coastlines in southern Sardinia. Starting from Cala Sìnzias, more than a kilometer long, it offers everything
a relaxing strand consisting of a golden beach that allows you to dive into the emerald sea, as well as a lot of peace thanks to its special location, surrounded by rocky headlands.
An equally valuable alternative is the beach of San Pietro, known as Cala Marina. A fine white sand beach where you can relax and sunbathe, washed by a turquoise sea with a shallow seabed, ideal for children and inexperienced boaters.
Continuing to explore the coast, you come across Cala Sant'Elmo, a wild and rural place of medium size, which, however, alternates with several tourist attractions that allow you not to deprive yourself of nightlife, especially at night.

Interesting places of Castiadas
If you're after a break from the seaside resorts, the center of Castiadas has a lot to offer.In particular, the former Castiadas penal colony is located within the city limits. Built in 1877, it was one of the reasons the island was repopulated.Inside the complex of beautiful architecture is a museum that tells the story of the prison, decorated with furniture typical of the Sardinian traditions of the time.
Castiadas does not lack religious themes either. The church of San Basilida, located across the road from the colony, has the typical features of a Rupester holy place.
It consists of one nave, has a doorway depicting the saint of the same name in the act of conversion to Jesus Christ. Around the church there is also a small park, which served as an extension to the director's villa of the former penitentiary, now filled with games and attractions even for children.
