Bormio is located in the Eastern Alps, near the junction of the borders of Austria, Switzerland and Italy. The history of the resort is more than one hundred years old: the settlement was founded by the Romans, who were attracted by the local thermal springs. And this is how the ski resort of Bormio began to position itself only in the middle of the 20th century - people began to come here not only for treatment, but also to ski.
The world championship in mountain skiing became a serious impetus for the development of the city's infrastructure - in 1985, Bormio was chosen as its venue.
In preparation for such a grand event, tracks were updated and improved, new cable cars were equipped, comfortable hotels, shops and other entertainment facilities were built, thanks to which the city turned into a rather fashionable resort.
Today, Bormio is about 120 kilometers of excellent pistes of various levels of difficulty, of which approximately 20% are particularly difficult black pistes, 55% are red for intermediate skiers and 25% are gentle blue pistes. Both beginners, who have started skiing for the first time, and high-class professionals feel quite comfortable here.
The north-facing black runs of Cima Bianca and Le Motte-Oga are for experienced skiers. These are mostly virgin slopes with a small amount of vegetation, suitable for off-piste skiing.
The gentler red runs are located between Cima Bianca and Cimino station, as well as between Cimino and Bormio 2000 - they are distinguished by the almost complete absence of direct races, so you should descend them carefully and carefully.
Fairly wide and well-rolled blue routes for "teapots" are located on the northern slope - their angle of inclination does not exceed 25%.
The height difference in Bormio is the largest in the Italian part of the Alps - 1792 meters, the maximum skiing height is 3017 meters, the minimum, respectively, is just over 1200. Two funiculars and more than 20 lifts of various types help to overcome these heights.
