Rapallo is a small town on the coast of Liguria, located not far from Genoa and known for its wonderful resorts and attractions.
Formerly a small fishing town, today Rapallo is a prestigious holiday destination near the Gulf of Tigullio.
What to see in Rapallo
Arriving in Rapallo by highway, you will first encounter the modern part, which is located in the deepest area, close to the hills, and after a railway crossing, you will finally arrive at the old part, which overlooks the Ligurian Sea.The oldest part of Rapallo is of course the most interesting to visit and experience: here you can get lost in the wonderful pedestrianized streets of the center, where typical high-rise buildings with colorful facades open up.
Rapallo Beaches
As you'd expect from a famous resort on the Italian Riviera, Rapallo has a variety of beach options that offer graceful access to the warm, translucent sea.You will find a popular public beach located in the center of the city, next to the city's red-hued promenade, next to the fortified carbuncle, Rapallo Castle. Many, however, prefer to drive a mile to San Michele di Pagana and stretch out on the rather lovely beach available there.Surrounded by a sheltered bay, with cypress-covered hills and square towers overlooking the blue Tigullio Bay, San Michele is a special little piece of the Riviera.
Weather and climate
Rapallo and other cities of the Italian Riviera enjoy the reliable protection of the seaside Alps and are famous for their pleasant Mediterranean climate.
Its southern aspect and favorable latitude create mild winters and nearly 300 days of sunshine per year.Expect daytime temperatures in May to reach 18°C, and late summer to see a pleasant 26°C.June and July are average months with almost no precipitation, although an unexpected summer shower that
engulfing the glassy sea off San Michele at 23°F would surely have delighted Yeats.
