Pattaya is a fairly young resort (it has been developing since the 1960s), but tourist life here is simply in full swing. The bustling city center will appeal to active people, young people and lovers of nightlife. More relaxed tourists and families with children will like the southern suburbs and the north of Pattaya: they are distinguished by their silence and relatively clean sea.
Pattaya is the resort closest to Bangkok and, accordingly, to the country's largest airport, Suvarnabhumi, so getting here is quick and easy. A transfer from the airport will take about an hour and a half.
Pattaya's beaches are ideal for both active and calm, measured pastime. And since the entire coast faces west, you can admire a bright tropical sunset from any point.
Despite its young age for a city, Pattaya has managed to acquire many interesting and worth visiting places. Among them are the Nong Nooch Tropical Park (the winner of prestigious world awards in the field of gardening and floristry, listed in the Guinness Book of Records); the Temple of Truth, which is considered one of the tallest wooden buildings in the world, as well as Khao Chi Chan Mountain, on the slope of which a huge image of Buddha is covered in gold.
This is one of the strongest sides of the resort: with the onset of evening, the city turns into one large entertainment center. Walking Street is especially famous for its entertainment. But nightlife extends far beyond its borders - there are many clubs, bars and restaurants with live music, discos throughout the city. Tourists are invited to Muay Thai fights (Thai boxing), the world-famous transvestite shows Tiffany's and Alcazar, as well as all kinds of "adult shows".
There are many places in Pattaya for children: an oceanarium, a pink dolphin show, a miniature park and much more. Half an hour's drive from the city is the Khao Kheo open-air zoo.
Pattaya guests are offered many options for active leisure - a jungle cable car, ATVs, jeep safaris, as well as traditional snorkeling, diving, fishing and sea trips. In addition, tourists have access to numerous tennis courts, fitness centers, golf courses, archery pavilions, horse riding arenas and much more.
