Zanzibar is an archipelago that includes the islands of Unguya (Zanzibar proper), Pemba, Mafia and many smaller ones. Historically, the islands developed separately under Arab influence and still have autonomy within the country. Vacation in Zanzibar is primarily a traditional beach vacation on tropical islands with white coral sand and palm trees on the shores of the Indian Ocean, as well as accompanying entertainment such as diving or sailing on local boats - dhows to meet dolphins or sea turtles.
