Chernivtsi region is a region in the southwestern part of Ukraine. It was formed on August 7, 1940 from the northern part of Bukovina, mostly inhabited by Ukrainians, and the neighboring part of Bessarabia (with Khotyn). It is located within the boundaries of the Carpathians, Precarpathia (Bukovynsk Prykarpattia) and the Pokutsko-Bessarab highlands. The region borders Romania in the south and Moldova in the southeast. In the west and northwest - with Ivano-Frankivsk, in the north - with Ternopil and Khmelnytskyi, and in the east with Vinnytsia oblasts. This is the smallest region of Ukraine in terms of area, in which the regional center is the city of Chernivtsi. The main tourist areas of the region are Hlybotskyi, Kelmenetskyi, Sokyrianskyi, Storozhynetskyi, Putilskyi, Kitsmanskyi and Vyzhnytskyi, as well as the cities of Khotyn and Chernivtsi, where you can choose accommodation in the private or hotel sector.
The population of Chernivtsi region on January 1, 2010 was 904,400 people. There are more than 70 rivers in the territory of the region belonging to the Danube and Dniester basins. The basis of the region's river system is the Dniester, Prut, Seret, and Cheremosh.
On the territory of Chernivtsi region there are: 836 monuments of archeology (of which 18 are of national significance), 586 monuments of history (of which 2 are of national significance), 779 monuments of architecture and urban planning (of which 112 are of national significance), 42 monuments of monumental art. The List of Historical Settlements of Ukraine, approved by Resolution No. 878 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated July 26, 2001, includes 11 settlements of the Chernivtsi region: Vyzhnytsia, Hertsa, Hlyboka, Kelmentsi, Kitsman, Luzhany, Novoselytsia, Putila, Storozhynets, Khotyn, Chernivtsi .
Chernivtsi region is a fertile region for multi-disciplinary summer and winter mining and sports tourism, mass cognitive and recreational recreation, as well as balneological treatment.
