Kyiv is the capital of Ukraine, one of the largest and oldest cities in Europe. It is located in the middle course of the Dnieper, in the northern Dnipro region.

Political, socio-economic, transport and educational and scientific center of the country. A separate administrative-territorial unit within Ukraine and the administrative center of the Kyiv region. Location of central authorities of Ukraine, foreign missions, headquarters of most enterprises and public associations operating in Ukraine.

The population is more than 2.8 million people. Kyiv with settlements along the Dnipro forms the Kyiv agglomeration with a population of up to 4 million people.

Kyiv is the capital of Ukraine and one of the oldest cities in Europe, founded at least 1,500 years ago. A modern European city can surprise anyone - from lovers of natural beauty, architecture and sights to those who prefer more intense and active recreation.

Kyiv is built on the slopes of the picturesque Dnipro River, which gives you the opportunity to admire unique panoramas of the metropolis. Along with a large number of modern skyscrapers, shopping, entertainment and business centers, there are interesting historical buildings, monuments of art and architecture, quiet narrow streets with their own history and unique charm. There are a large number of green squares, parks, fountains, museums, universities, temples, theaters, cafes, restaurants and clubs for every taste.

Like every capital city, Kyiv lives a rich and turbulent life - it develops, is reconstructed, becomes better, but one thing remains unchanged - the desire to study this city and discover it from a different side every time.

KYIVO-PECHERSKA LAVRA
Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra was founded in the 11th century. Located on the slopes of the Dnipro, it is one of the most recognizable symbols of the capital of Ukraine. Thousands of believers and pilgrims come here, it is also a favorite place for interesting walks, where not only guests of Kyiv, but also its residents like to visit.

The famous bell tower is located in the Lavra - one of the landmarks of Kyiv, from where a wonderful panorama of the city opens. On the territory of the 28-hectare complex there are underground caves with mummies of monks, many museums, including the museum of microminiatures and the Golden Treasury museum, which houses a collection of Scythian gold, as well as many themed shops.

SAINT SOPHIA CATHEDRAL
St. Sophia's Cathedral, founded in 1037, is an excellent example of art and architecture from the times of the Kyivan movement, which has survived to this day. The coronations of princes took place here, and now their tombs are located here, a large number of official and religious ceremonies took place here.

During the reign of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, the first library in Russia was built in the cathedral, as well as the first school for boys and girls. It is interesting that the interior decoration of the cathedral has hardly changed since its foundation. The frescoes that decorate the walls of Hagia Sophia, executed in a unique technique, tell the audience the history of biblical stories, the lives of the apostles, and depict portraits of soldiers and church abbots.

INDEPENDENCE SQUARE
Maidan Nezalezhnosti is quite small, but it is one of the most lively points of the city. It connects the three main streets of Kyiv - Khreshchatyk, Instytutska and Heroes of the Nebesnaya Sotna. No significant event takes place without the participation of Maidan Nezalezhnosti. A stage for cultural and entertainment events is regularly set up here, friends meet here for walks, and it was the Maidan that witnessed revolutionary events in Ukraine.

In 2001, the Maidan underwent a major renovation and acquired a familiar look for residents and tourists.
