The village of Zhdenievo is located in the western part of the Ukrainian Carpathians at an altitude of 542 meters above sea level, near the Shiroky Menchul mountain (+1101 m). The village of Zhdenievo itself is spread along a mountain river and is surrounded on all sides by mountains lushly covered with beech and spruce forests. The year 1971 is officially considered the date of establishment of the settlement, and the settlement received the status of "city-type settlement" in 1981. There is a legend about the appearance of the name of the village of Zhdenievo. A guy, forced to leave his girlfriend and go to war, carved a reminder for his beloved "Wait, Eva" on a tree trunk. The governor, who was passing by, saw the inscription and decided that this was the name of the settlement spread out in front of him. Since then, the village has been called Zhdenievo.
The village has a ski lift, several hotels, restaurants, shops, and a developed private sector. There are many beech forests in the vicinity, full of mushrooms and berries. From Zhdenievo you can start climbing Mount Pikuy (1405 m) - the highest point of the Lviv region.
