Hurghada
About the resort
The famous resort of Egypt, located in its eastern part. It is washed by the waters of the Red Sea. The name of the city comes from the Arabic name of the plant - saltpetre, a typical shrub of the African part of the country, the fruit of which resembles dogwood in appearance and taste. The famous resort of Egypt, located in its eastern part. It is washed by the waters of the Red Sea. The name of the city comes from the Arabic name of the plant - saltpetre, a typical shrub of the African part of the country, the fruit of which resembles dogwood in appearance and taste.

The city arose at the beginning of the 20th century, when it gradually turned from a military village into a resort of national importance. Already in the early 80s, Hurghada became known as a resort where, in addition to traditional beach vacations, you could engage in diving. This became possible thanks to the wise actions of the governor and the possibility of investment by foreign citizens. As a result, the city quickly developed and became a mecca for scuba divers.

Hurghada stretches along the sea coast for 36 kilometers. This is a favorite vacation spot for visitors from Cairo, Upper Egypt and foreign tourists. It also includes bays, such as Soma Bay, Makadi Bay and others. Therefore, when booking a tour to Hurghada, it is important to make sure that the hotel is located there, and not in nearby bays.

CLIMATE AND DISTRICTS OF THE CITY OF HURGADA
Also, as in all of Egypt, the climate in Hurghada is dry, with little rainfall. Due to the dry air, the heat is transferred relatively easily, near the sea the air is cooler.

The old city is Dahar. In it you can find a traditional oriental bazaar, where you can happily bargain, knocking down the price for the product you like, as well as a post office and intercity transport. In the northern part are the districts of El-Ahiya (leading to El Gouna), El-Hilal (administrative center). The modern center of the city is called Sakkala. There is also the El Mamshit pedestrian road, along which many hotels are located.

In addition, an international airport has been built in Hurghada, and getting from Kyiv to Egypt will not be a problem.

The city has educational institutions, a library, a courthouse, local government buildings, shops and supermarkets.

SIGHTS OF HURGHADA
The so-called old city, Dahar, has historical value. It houses the central mosque (one of the main attractions of the city), as well as the Church of St. Anthony. According to legend, the temple was built where the apostle Paul stayed during the persecution of Christians by the Romans. In the tours to Hurghada, these sights are listed among the first ones.

To the south is the Thousand and One Nights Palace, built on the motives of the eastern Disneyland, where there are often theatrical performances about the life of Egypt in ancient times, when the country was ruled by the pharaohs. You can buy tickets for performances inside the palace.

In the northern area, there is a small aquarium, in which the amazing fauna of the Red Sea is collected.

To the west of Hurghada are the Arabian deserts, where you can also go on excursions, see Bedouin villages with your own eyes and ride camels.

TYPES OF HOLIDAYS IN HURGHADA
It is basically a beach holiday, where each hotel strives to offer the best service, as well as tours of Egyptian cultural and historical sites. The price for excursions is indicated in the prospectuses or it can be found out from the hotel manager who organizes the excursion.

Diving became a very popular type of recreation in Egypt primarily thanks to two billionaire enthusiasts who decided to turn a small village into a world-class resort and they succeeded. Today, Hurghada attracts scuba divers from all over the world, has a diving center and trains instructors, which is usually the main trump card of tour operators offering tours to Hurghada.

Vacations to Hurghada are also popular because people like snorkeling (swimming with a snorkel and flippers) and kiting come to the country. The latter is becoming more and more popular, since the winds are constantly blowing in Hurghada and you can fly kites almost all year round.

As a souvenir in Hurghada, you can buy Arabic sweets, papyrus, camel figurines, spices and much more. You can bring alcohol from Kyiv, but no more than 1 liter. It is easier to buy it in bars and restaurants or in a hotel.
