Sithonia - the middle "finger" of the Halkidiki peninsula, is considered the greenest due to the large number of coniferous forests occupying rather large areas. The name "Sithonia" comes from the name of the son of Poseidon and, at the same time, the king of Macedonia, Seton. The nearest airport is located approximately 90 kilometers from this part of the peninsula - in Thessaloniki. The western coast of Sithonia is washed by the Toronic Bay, the eastern by the Singitikos Bay.
Sithonia, in contrast to the social and noisy Kassandra, offers a quiet holiday in nature and exotic and quiet beaches all over the Aegean Sea. Nightlife is abundant in Neos Marmaras, which combines traditional hospitality with modern entertainment. Sithonia is a great place for many tourists who enjoy their holidays here. On the western shores of Sithonia, on the way from Mykiti to the town of Neos Marmaras, there are picturesque corners - like painted bays in the arms of hills, drowning in greenery, clean beaches, transparent waters, and modern tourist centers. Sithonia got its name from Seton, ruler of Macedonia, son of Poseidon and Wasp.
