The small coastal town of Malgrat de Mar is located in the province of Barcelona in the autonomous community of Catalonia. On an area of 9 sq. km, about 20,000 people live.
Malgrat de Mar is located on the border of two Mediterranean coasts: Costa Brava and Costa del Maresme. Malgrat de Mar began its history between the 13th and 14th centuries and was originally called Vilanova de Palafolls.
The first inhabitants of the city began to settle on the hill El Castell, which is now located in the center of Malgrat de Mar. The city quickly gained popularity as a large agricultural center, and sea trade flourished here.
In the 19th century, industry began to develop in the city. Tourists began to actively develop the city from the 60s of the 20th century. Today, Malgrat de Mar in Spain is considered one of the most attractive beach resorts.
