The big attraction of Platja d'Aro is its sandy beach, which stretches for several kilometres to the marina. The town also has a good selection of shops, including a number of large supermarkets, and the main street (Av. S'Agaró) is full of Spanish and international chains selling clothes, shoes, beachwear, mobile phones, jewellery, tourist trinkets and more.
Beaches
One of the main attractions of Platja d'Aro is its long beach of coarse pink sand. At around 2,400 metres long, it is one of the most popular on the entire Costa Brava. The beach here is mostly urban, but head towards the rocky coves to the north and you will find yourself in a more natural environment. The stretch of beach near the harbour also differs from the main beach in that it has pine trees instead of residential buildings. Just behind the beach there is a campsite and a parking lot in the shade of trees if you are traveling from outside the city.
