Polyana is a balneological resort located in a small, narrow valley, surrounded on all sides by forests. In the vicinity of Polyana, the Uklinsky Pass begins and two rivers meet - Mala Pinya and Velika Pinya. The resort is located away from the Kyiv-Lviv-Chop international highway, 10 km from the district center of Svalyava, at an altitude of 320 m above sea level.
The specialty of treatment at the Polyana resort is chronic diseases of the digestive organs. Treatment of stomach ulcers, duodenal ulcers, erosive gastritis (duodenitis) in the presence of ulcers, erosions, heartburn. The main factor of treatment at the Polyana resort is mineral water, which is taken internally. Mineral water is transparent, has a salty-acidic taste, is odorless, and emits a large amount of carbon dioxide. "Polyana Kvasova" water refers to therapeutic table waters with a high salt content, analogous to mineral waters of the Borjomi type, but with a higher concentration of minerals, carbon dioxide, with impurities of fluorine and boron.
Polyana has a centuries-old history. Material monuments found on its territory date back to the 2nd millennium BC. The first written mention of a small settlement of shepherds dates back to the 12th century. During the Mongol-Tatar invasion, the village was burned down and rebuilt only in 1548. In 1728, the Austrian emperor gave a large part of Transcarpathia, including Polyana, to Count Schönborn.
