Ternopil region is located in the west of Ukraine. It borders with Rivne region in the north, Chernivtsi region in the south, Khmelnytsky region in the east, Ivano-Frankivsk region in the southwest, and Lviv region in the west.
The tourism and recreation industry occupies a special place in the region and is considered a priority. The region is characterized by significant recreational potential: a network of transport connections, cultural heritage, and a developed tourism industry. This potential is competitive, as its components are nature, history, climate, as well as medical and balneological opportunities: here are concentrated reserves of Naftusya and Morshinska mineral waters, blue clay, peat and healing mud, which contributes to the development of the tourism business. There are 18 sanatorium-resort facilities in the region, of which there are 10 sanatoriums, 5 sanatoriums-prophylaxis, 3 bases and other recreation areas.
