The decision when it is better to go to the Ulcinj Riviera also depends on what your vacation plans are. We invite you to learn more about the intricacies of the region, as well as what you can do during your vacation on the southernmost Riviera of the country. The main trump card of recreation on the Ulcinj Riviera is endless beaches with healing sand. The large beach in Ulcinj, the largest beach of the resort, stretches for almost one and a half dozen kilometers. There are areas with excellent infrastructure, marked with a "blue flag", and completely deserted places without any amenities, but with clean sand. It is definitely worth coming to Ulcinj if you are interested in windsurfing. There is no such wind at any Montenegrin resort, and windsurfers know this and appreciate it very much.
Vtiha is a young resort between Ulcinj and Bar. There are no historical monuments here, but there is an entertainment center, you can even go to a disco. There are several good beaches, there are hotels and apartments.
Let's just say, among all such calm little resort villages, Vtikh will be the most fun. The resort is considered one of the centers of nightlife in Montenegro, so young people often come here.
Families with children will also like the resort, there are several play areas for children, it will also be good for the older generation - the air in Vtikh is considered healing.
Ulcinj is a city of contrasts, here Slavic motifs are mixed with Eastern motifs. There are a lot of vacationers from Albania. The main contingent is families with children and Europeans of respectable age.
The tourist infrastructure is developed: there are hotels, shops, cafes, and a tour desk. Among the sights - the stunningly beautiful old town of Ulcinj, Skadar Lake is relatively close.
Ada Boyana is an island in the very south of Montenegro, it is located at the mouth of a river about 17 km from Ulcinj. This place is primarily famous for its sandy beach. The fact is that the main nudist beach of Montenegro is located here. But it is not necessary to undress, you can sunbathe in a swimsuit, there are sections of beaches for ordinary people.
Those who have been to Ulcinj wonder: why are the beaches of this resort less popular than the beaches of Budva and Hercegnov Riviera? According to many tourists, this resort is one of the best places in Montenegro for recreation at sea.
In and around Ulcinj, one third of Montenegro's beaches awarded with the "blue flag" are located. A well-kept coast, developed infrastructure, soft sand and shallow sea - isn't that what you need to sunbathe and shop? Another indisputable plus of a beach vacation in Ulcinj is the absence of crowds of vacationers. This is explained by the still small popularity of the region and the impressive length of the beaches. The coastline of the Ulcinj Riviera stretches for 30 km. Rest on all beaches of Ulcinj is free. For a fee, you can use sunbeds and umbrellas, and the rental of beach equipment is significantly cheaper than in Budva. The largest beach of the resort, Velyka plaža, is located south of Ulcinj, near the village of Doni Shtoi. It stretches for 13 km, and its width reaches 60 meters. This is a sandy beach, and although the sand here is unattractively gray, it has proven healing properties. Warming up on this sand is useful for diseases of the musculoskeletal system. The beach is arranged unevenly: somewhere there are rows of bright sunbeds, sports and children's playgrounds, restaurants, and somewhere the shore is devoid of any infrastructure. Within the boundaries of Ulcinj is the city beach of Mala plaja, a compact and well-kept stretch of the coast. Its only drawback is the large number of vacationers in the high season.
Ada Boyana beach is very popular with windsurfers. In addition to the surfer's beach, there are beaches for lovers of a quiet vacation, for nudists, as well as a small "women's" beach, resting on which is believed to relieve infertility.
The sea near the island is cooler, and the waves are stronger than near the shores of Ulcinj. Another picturesque, albeit small, beach is located in Valdanos Bay, 6 km from Ulcinj. The shore here is covered with pebbles, so the water is very clear. In addition, there are almost no waves in the bay, and everyone can swim near the shore without fear.
The sea on the Ulcinj Riviera is playful: it rolls onto the coastal sand and immediately retreats, whipping up white foam like a soft feather, calling to jump on the waves. If it happens in May, these flirtations will have to be ignored: the water temperature in Ulcinj is only + 18 ° C. The water will warm up a little by summer. Already at the beginning of June, the sea temperature will rise to + 21 ° C, and at the end of the month - to + 23 ° C. The warmest water is usually in July-August. In these hot months, the sea warms up to + 25 ° C. With the arrival of autumn, it is still pleasant to swim in the sea, as the water temperature remains at + 23-24 ° C. But by the end of September, the sea begins to cool down, and in October the thermometers show + 20-21 ° C.
The role of public transport in Ulcinj is played by intercity buses that run within the municipality and also connect the resort with other cities in Montenegro.
Bar - Ulcinj buses run most often: in the first half of the day approximately once every half an hour, in the afternoon - once an hour. There are much fewer flights to Budva or Tivat. In order not to wait in vain, we recommend that you find out the schedule at the bus station or at the office of the tourist organization of Ulcinj. The fare depends on the distance. Yes, a bus ticket to Bar costs 2 euros, to Podgorica airport - 6.50 euros, to Budva - 7.50 euros. Note that there is no discount on tickets for children in Montenegro. The main disadvantage of transport in Ulcinj is the inability to get to the best beaches by bus. For this, you will have to call a taxi or rent a car. Traveling by taxi cannot be called a cheap pleasure: for each kilometer of the journey you need to pay 0.80 euros, another 0.50 euros is charged for boarding.
