The Kherson region is located in the steppe zone, on the lower reaches of the Dnipro River. 19 rivers flow on the territory of the region, the largest of which are the Dnipro and Ingulets. The Dnipro River divides the region into two parts - the right bank and the left bank, which is also called Northern Tavria. Kherson region is the only one of all regions that simultaneously has access to two seas - the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. The region has 200 km. sea coast, 12 resort settlements, 75 sources of healing mineral and thermal waters, 80 objects of the nature reserve fund, in particular - the Black Sea Biosphere Reserve and "Askania - Nova". There are 4 national natural parks on the territory of the region: Azov - Sivasky, Oleshkivsky sands, Dzharylgachsky, Nizhnyodniprovsky. The region has unique ecologically clean natural recreational resources, such as the Dnipro delta, the Arabat arrow (the longest sand spit in the world), Biryuchy and Dzharylgach islands (the largest uninhabited islands in Europe), Kinburn and Tendriv spits, Oleshkiv sands (the only natural desert in Europe) , Oleshkivska forest (the world's largest man-made forest with an area of 100,000 hectares). Also, the region has more than 5 thousand objects of historical and cultural heritage: Scythian mounds, ancient settlements, remains of Turkish fortifications, Cossack crosses, numerous temples and others.
